To be a Jed's a blessing,
A gift from God, you see
We're not like all the others
Not like Bob, or Joe, or Jessie

We're a rare kind of people,
Not carved from flesh and bone,
But made of heaven's golden light
And hued with precious tones

The name itself means wisdom,
In religion, Beloved of the Lord,
Though some may think it not so true
It's a blessing I can sure afford

So if folks called you a name or two
Or if Jed Clampett was their song
