My name is Jed Moulton. It is my actual given name. I have no idea as to why I was named this; I don’t recall getting a straight answer from my parents. It seems as though there may have been some uncertainty about what my actual name was going to be as my birth certificate has my middle name crossed out and a second choice was added above. Either way Jed is here to stay. I have become accustomed to spelling my name, J-E-D, upon being introduced to avoid the usual misunderstandings of “Jen”, “Ed”, ‘Ted” or “Jet”. Actually I thought Jet was kind of cool and let it ride a few times. My most common nickname is Jedley, Jedster or Jedi. When I was a kid it was said that I had a resemblance to Luke Skywalker which gave Jedi all the more sticking power. There were times when I was younger that I wished I had a “normal” name like Joe or Jim or whatever but as I got older I really like the individuality and special quality that Jed offers despite the hillbilly affiliation. So take heart all you young Jed’s out there, it builds character.
