Jed Vier

Hello, my name is ‘Jed’ Vier, I’ve been a Jed since I was one month old.  My birth name is Gerard Edmond.  My mom initially called me Gerard, but she said it was difficult calling a baby Gerard.  My Dad went by Jerry, and they didn’t want me to be known as ‘Little Jerry’.  So, she combined Gerard and Edmond , and came up with Jed.  And yes, I’ve heard more references to ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ than you could shake a tree with.  The name has given me a good sense of humor, and I have not met many Jed’s in my life.

I work at a Ford car plant in Flat Rock, Michigan , which currently produces the Mustang and the MAZDA 6. I am in charge of the painted bumpers.  I have dabbled in cartoon writing.  In the late nineties, my cartoons ‘Viering Off’, was featured each month in “CRACKED” Magazine.  A few years back my partner, Buck Jones, and me created a daily single panel cartoon called “Skewed Visions”, which was on the American Greetings website for 1 ½ years in 2000-2001.  The new National Lampoon Cartoon book includes four of my cartoons.  I’ve even sold gags to Tom Wilson (Ziggy) and Bob Thaves (Frank & Ernest).  I’ve been an extra in movies (Hoffa, Polish Wedding, and Judicial Consent).  I am also a juggler and performed many times.  My toughest crowd to date is First-Graders.
